Redefining Downtown New Westminster

8th and Carnarvon proposal will enhance the tower precinct and continue the neighborhood's transformation into an urban mixed used area. The proposal includes a hotel with 145 rooms, 11,000 sf of retail at grade, a 44-storey residential tower with 469 units and a publicly accessible dog park.

The site is currently occupied by a series of 1 and 2-storey commercial buildings and a surface parking lot.

Reliance Properties submitted a rezoning and special development permit application back in July of 2019 and on March 26th, 2024, the proposal was supported by New Westminster Design Panel!

On March 26th 2024, New Westminster Design Panel provided feedback and expressed support for the current proposal.

On June 5th, 2024 Reliance Properties will be hosting a Public Open House at the Douglas College Campus in New Westminster.

In addition, there will be a series of meetings with neighborhood and business associations to gather further feedback.

A New Hotel

  • Inclusion of a 8-storey hotel with 145 rooms.
  • 10,000sf of new meeting and event spaces in the hotel .
  • New opportunities to bring more events to the Anvil Center.
  • Increasing accommodation opportunities in downtown.

Creating Community

  • New publicly accessible 4,000 sf dog park and landscaped plaza area (1,700sf of fenced dog play area).
  • Publicly Accessible Plaza at Eighth and Agnes Street.
  • Seating opportunities along Eighth to help navigate the steep slope.
  • Special pedestrian friendly paving along Blackie and Victoria Streets.
  • Building Portal on Blackie Street framing the access to the tower Precinct.
  • Opportunities for street murals and art along Blackie Street.

  • Wide range of unit typologies from one-bedrooms to three-bedroom townhouse units.
